Nota d'usoI sostantivi salary, wage e pay si riferiscono tutti alla retribuzione lavorativa, ma vengono usati in contesti diversi. Salary può essere tradotto con “stipendio” e indica una retribuzione fissa su base mensile o annuale: Salaries are expected to rise next year, ci si aspetta un aumento degli stipendi il prossimo anno. Wage viene usato di solito per indicare una retribuzione su base oraria o giornaliera: My wage is paid in cash to me at the end of the week, vengo retribuito in contanti alla fine della settimana; I am paid an hourly wage, vengo pagato a ore. Infine, pay è il sostantivo più generico, spesso traducibile con “paga”: pay slip, busta paga; What's the pay like?, quanto pagano? -
